Glenkindie Ave is at the Heart of Maple Community. The Community of Maple runs from Jane and Highway 400 on the west to Rutherford Road in the south, the Go Railway Barrier line on the east, and Teston Road on the north. Bounding highway 400 and having two GO stations, Maple offers its residents convenient transportation to transit to downtown Toronto. Old Maple Area, located west of Keele street and south of Major Mackenzie Drive, concentrates on many detached bungalows built around 1960. Further south of Jane Street is Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, where residents can take a subway to downtown Toronto at Vaughan Subway station. At the junction of Jane Street and Major Mackenzie Drive, Mackenzie Glen Square is a large shopping plaza anchored by several well-respected tenants, including Longo, McDonald and Scotia Bank. Many young families chose to live in Maple because of its convenient public transportation, proximity to large shopping centres, top-tier school zone and more affordable housing prices compared with neighbouring communities.
